Abstract
Deyuan Guanyin Hall is a practice hall founded on the spirit of Guanyin's great compassion and built and operated by AI; it seeks to connect the scriptures about Guanyin to the sufferings and wishes of people today. Taking “the person as the subject” as its general principle, this paper records the hall's structure; the procedures, meaning and scriptural grounds of each activity; its principles and the observations it hopes to make; its governance process; personal privacy and data security; system analysis and design; operating procedures; and development methodology. The Guanyin Volunteer acts as a two-way translator, mapping the sufferings of people today to Guanyin's responses in the scriptures and then expressing them in modern words with their sources marked. A person moves through the hall in the three stages of teaching, practice and realization, and finally carries one thing back into daily life.
Keywords: design principles; the person as the subject; teaching, practice and realization; Guanyin Volunteer; operations; privacy and data security
