Abstract
This paper presents the guiding thought of Deyuan Academy through the Deyuan double pyramid, which it calls “one stream of mind.” The lower half is convergence: thoughts arise from doing things and gather layer by layer; the apex is the single thought into which they have gathered at this moment, where Deyuan Guanyin Hall stands; the upper half is divergence: that thought flows on to those who come later. Thoughts have a before and after, but no years. The thoughts of many gather into one stream, converge into a single thought, and flow outward again, so that knowledge becomes wisdom and ability becomes compassion — this is compassion and wisdom as one (悲智雙運). The journal takes this as its general framework; its five sections — Scripture and Translation, Online Practice Halls, Learning Across Fields, Digital Practice, and Passing the Lamp — correspond to the five directions of the double pyramid.
Keywords: stream of mind; compassion and wisdom as one; Deyuan double pyramid; convergence and divergence; Deyuan Academy
